Melissa Horne has spent her life making a difference.

She has enjoyed a long career at the most senior levels of government and corporate Victoria, where she has overseen projects and policies which have helped change lives for the better.  Her values are what sets her apart, with a history of activism and community involvement helping those that need a hand.

She has helped deliver responsible gaming reforms, led efforts to engage the community in level crossing removals across Melbourne and has fought for better public education in the inner west.

Melissa grew up the daughter of two school teachers who helped instil the values of public service and public education in her.  She watched as the area she grew up in was buffeted by economic challenges which saw industries and employment disappear and working people face enormous and unforeseen challenges.

Melissa moved to Melbourne’s West to raise her children with her partner of more than twenty years, Alex in the late 1990s.  They have raised their two boys and sent them to school locally.  Melissa’s lifetime commitment to public education saw her lead the fight for a secondary school for Seddon, Kingsville and Yarraville: SKY High. That campaign has led to a government commitment, being rolled out now.

Now, more than ever, we need a strong advocate for our area.  Melissa Horne can help us grow together as a community, ensuring that development continues sensibly, that future jobs are available locally and that the environment and local amenity is protected.

Only Labor cares about the Western Suburbs, and only Melissa Horne can make a difference in a re-elected Andrews Labor Government.  Sign up as a supporter and get involved in our campaign.
